35kv -69kv polymer suspension insulator:
35kv -69kv polymer suspension insulator is distribution line insulators, and can be used in suspension insulator string and tension insulator string with different mechanical property.
Compered to porcelain or glass insulators:
Compared to porcelain or glass insulators:
Traditional 69kV polymer suspension insulators and below 69kv class, to achieve the same electrical and strength ratings of a porcelain insulator, the composite insulator needs to be longer, which isn’t possible on existing lines.
The strength of polymer suspension insulators is achieved by crimping metal end fittings to the fiberglass core. These end fittings are approximately the length of one porcelain or glass disk causing that much shorter of a dry arcing distance, which is necessary for the electrical ratings of the insulator.
Different design between porcelain disc insulator and polymer suspension insulator:
• Silicone housing has 20% more leakage distance – superior performance in contaminated environment
• Higher mechanical strength – 25k SML v. 15k SML
• Corrosion resistant fiberglass core – eliminates concern of brittle fracture failure
• 82% lighter weight compared to porcelain disc insualtors.
The advantages of 35kv -69kv polymer suspension insulator:
• Hydrophobicity / encapsulation
• Superior performance for contamination
• Eliminates brittle fracture concerns
• Fits standard socket / ball hardware
• Lower installation laborthe connection to the conductor hardware and tower
35kv -69kv polymer suspension insulator is popular used in distribution systems, can be designed with ball & socket, clevis & tongue and y-clevis & eye coupling fittings.
